Welcome to Mamburao, a second-class municipality known as the capital of the province of Occidental Mindoro in the Philippines. With a population of 47,705 people according to the 2020 census, Mamburao has a rich history and a thriving agricultural economy. Originally settled by the Moro people, Mamburao was one of their strongholds in the island of Mindoro. The settlement was the first one in Mindoro to be plundered by the Spaniards. Despite facing attacks from the Mindanao Moro in the 17th and 18th centuries, Mamburao’s population remained resilient and even made it into a sea haven by the Moros. Nowadays, Mamburao’s economy is highly dependent on its agricultural produce, particularly rice and corn. Additionally, the municipality is home to numerous livestock and dairy farmers, as well as fishermen who engage in marine fishery.
