Welcome to Konstancin-Jeziorna, a picturesque town located just 20 km south of downtown Warsaw in the Masovian Voivodeship of Poland. With a population of 17,566 (as of March 2011), Konstancin-Jeziorna is a part of the metropolitan area of Warsaw and is known for its historic villas, newly built mansions, and a restored 19th-century mill that now serves as a shopping center. The town was created in 1969 through the merging of neighboring towns: holiday resort Skolimów-Konstancin and industrial Jeziorna with a number of villages. Konstancin-Jeziorna is also home to the American School of Warsaw, making it a popular destination for expats and international students.
One of the town’s most notable districts is Klarysew, which has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. During World War II, Klarysew became part of the General Government and was home to 1,353 inhabitants in 1943. Today, the district is a popular residential area and is known for its preserved Wilanów railway station, designed by Konstanty Jakimowicz. Klarysew was also a popular destination for the political elite of the Polish Peoples Republic, with leading officials such as Eduard Gierek owning houses there.
