The city also has a university campus with schools of Animal Science, Veterinarian Science, Agronomy, Philosophy, Letters, Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Law, with an enrollment of 1,850 students.
Uruguaiana is also known for its vibrant music scene, and is home to the yearly Califórnia da Canção Nativa regional gaucho music festival. The city is also home to several notable construction works, including the International Getúlio Vargas/Agustín P. Just Road/Railway Bridge on the Uruguay River, which was inaugurated in 1947 and was the greatest work of engineering in South America at the time of its construction.
