Welcome to Ataşehir, a thriving district located on the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey. This bustling area is situated at the intersection of the O-2 and O-4 motorways and shares borders with Ümraniye, Sancaktepe, Maltepe, Kadıköy, and Üsküdar. Ataşehir is home to some of the tallest skyscrapers in Istanbul, including the impressive 352-meter Turkish Central Bank Tower, which surpassed the Metropol Istanbul Tower A as the tallest building in Turkey.

The history of Ataşehir is fascinating and worth exploring. Before 2009, the area was divided between the districts of Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ümraniye, and Kartal. The original housing development of Ataşehir was designed to include 18,000 high-rise condominiums offering luxury residences for 80,000 people with higher incomes. Ataşehir was awarded the Habitat prize in 2005, and as of 2006, 8596 housing units were present within the site, housing approximately 35,000 people.

Ataşehir Municipality was founded in 2009 and has 24 subordinate directorates. The municipal building and the district’s security directorate are located in the Barbaros neighborhood.
