HISTORY:
Hoskote has a rich history, having been a Jagir of Maratha warrior Shahaji Raje for around 50 years and also part of Swarajya of Shivaji. The city played a significant role in the First British-Mysore War and was the site of the Battle of Ooscata on the night of 22-23 August 1768.
DEMOGRAPHICS:
As of the 2011 India census, Hoskote had a population of 219,000, with males constituting 52% of the population and females 48%. The literacy rate in Hoskote is higher than the state average, with an average literacy rate of 86.22%. Male literacy is 89.58%, and female literacy is 82.68%. Hoskote also has a significant population of children under 6 years old, making up 11.98% of its population.
