== History ==
Hayrabolu has a long and fascinating history, dating back to the Byzantine period. While not much is known about the city during antiquity, it is first mentioned in the Notitiae Episcopatuum of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the early 10th century. In the 11th century, Chariopolis was the site of military operations against invading nomadic tribes, and in the aftermath of the disastrous Battle of Adrianople in 1205, the town was conquered by the Bulgarians under Tsar Kaloyan.
During the Ottoman period, Hayrabolu was a prosperous town known for its extensive animal husbandry and beautiful gardens. Today, it is a small market town serving the surrounding countryside.

While no Byzantine-era structures survive in Hayrabolu, visitors can still enjoy the beautiful architecture of the local Pasha Mosque, which incorporates a Byzantine capital. At the entrance to the settlement is a 16th-century Ottoman bridge.
