History:
Kysucké Nové Mesto has a long and storied history, with the first signs of settlement dating back to the La Tène Age. The town was first mentioned in 1254 under the name Jesesin, and in 1325 it was granted the privileges of a town with a market law. Throughout the Middle Ages, the town was primarily engaged in agriculture, sheep breeding, trade, and handcraft. In the 19th century, the town suffered from floods and fires, but after World War II, it experienced significant economic development, particularly in the engineering industry.

Kysucké Nové Mesto is located in the Kysuca river valley, between the Javorníky and Kysucká vrchovina mountains. The town covers an area of 26.414 square kilometers and lies at an altitude of 358 meters above sea level.

Demographics:
According to the 2001 census, Kysucké Nové Mesto had a population of 16,558 inhabitants, with 95.13% of the population being Slovak, 1.02% Czech, and 0.79% Roma and Germans. The majority of the population is Roman Catholic.
